Serena Williams introduces baby girl Alexis Olympia
(TSX / STATS) -- Tennis superstar Serena Williams introduced her newborn daughter to her fans on social media Wednesday, posting photos, a video and revealing her name.
The proud mom announced the baby's name is Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., named after her father and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. She was born on Sept. 1 and reportedly weighed in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces.
The 35-year-old Williams posted a video with clips of the pregnancy and from the hospital after delivery that was made available on YouTube and in an Instagram story.
"So we're leaving the hospital after six, seven days," Williams said in the video debuting her daughter. "It's been a long time, but we had a lot of complications, but look who we got -- we got a baby girl!"
Williams also shared a montage from her pregnancy, including her first ultrasound, belly bump selfies and the parents-to-be assembling the nursery.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion announced she was pregnant in a Snapchat post in April. She later revealed she was eight weeks pregnant during the Australian Open, where she won her last singles title.
Williams missed the remainder of the season but previously said she hopes to return for the Australian Open in January.
