Mariners add Brower as assistant to Servais
(TSX / STATS) -- The Seattle Mariners named Jim Brower as an assistant coach, the team announced Tuesday.
Brower spent the past two seasons as the Chicago Cubs' minor league pitching coordinator. The 44-year-old has also served as the pitching coach for Northwest Arkansas, which is the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Brower joins a Mariners' managerial staff that features four coaches in new positions.
Manny Acta will begin his first year as the team's bench coach, while Chris Prieto and Scott Brosius will open their first seasons as the team's first base coach and third base coach, respectively.
Seattle also announced Nasusel Cabrera would also remain with the big league staff in a to-be-determined role.
The team has yet to name a bullpen coach.
During his pitching career, Brower posted a 33-32 mark with a 4.67 ERA in 354 career appearances with the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees.
