Bumgarner struck out seven, ending the game with a 2.71 ERA and 1.03 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Bumgarner has a 1.38 ERA in his last four starts as he continues to improve after missing nearly three months because of injuries sustained in a dirt bike accident.
Aug. 5 10:46 AM PT11:46 AM MT12:46 PM CT1:46 PM ET13:46 ET17:46 GMT1:46 10:46 AM MST12:46 PM EST1:16 PM VEN21:46 UAE12:46 PM CT-Madison Bumgarner fell to 1-5, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 7.0 innings, as the San Francisco Giants lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1 on Friday. Bumgarner struck out seven, ending the game with a 2.88 ERA and 1.04 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: It was one of the strongest outings this season for the left-hander, who has given up three earned runs over his last 19 innings. ''I'm always trying to get better,'' said Bumgarner, who missed nearly three months with a shoulder sprain. ''I was jumping in when guys are in midseason form pretty much, so I really have to try to be on top of my game.''
July 31 9:35 AM PT10:35 AM MT11:35 AM CT12:35 PM ET12:35 ET16:35 GMT0:35 9:35 AM MST11:35 AM EST12:05 PM VEN20:35 UAE11:35 AM CT-Madison Bumgarner allowed five hits and one walk without giving up a run in 7.0 innings as the San Francisco Giants lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 on Sunday. Bumgarner struck out seven, ending the game with a 2.92 ERA and 1.05 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Bumgarner put together his best outing since coming off the DL, recording his most strikeouts since April 13. He next faces the Diamondbacks on Friday, and at Arizona in the 2017 opener, the big lefty allowed three runs while striking out 11 in seven innings. In his last four home starts against the D-backs, Bumgarner has compiled a 1.13 ERA with a 0.88 WHIP and 36 strikeouts over 32 innings, but has been saddled with a 1-3 record as he's been backed by five total runs.

Bumgarner struck out four, ending the game with a 3.38 ERA and 1.08 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Dating back to the 2014 wild-card game, Bumgarner has a 1.59 ERA in four starts against the Pirates.
July 21 11:03 PM PT12:03 AM MT1:03 AM CT2:03 AM ET2:03 ET6:03 GMT14:03 11:03 PM MST1:03 AM EST1:33 AM VEN10:03 UAE1:03 AM CT-Madison Bumgarner allowed four runs on six hits and one walk in 6.1 innings, as the San Francisco Giants lost to the San Diego Padres 5-2 on Thursday. Bumgarner struck out five, ending the game with a 3.57 ERA and 1.04 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Bumgarner took his home mound for the first time since spraining his pitching shoulder in an April 20 dirt bike accident. The 2014 World Series MVP is winless after six 2017 starts. He also allowed two home runs Saturday, so this marked the first time in his career he has surrendered multiple longballs in consecutive outings during a single season.
June 17 9:29 AM PT10:29 AM MT11:29 AM CT12:29 PM ET12:29 ET16:29 GMT0:29 9:29 AM MST11:29 AM EST11:59 AM VEN20:29 UAE11:29 AM CT-Making his first major league start since April 19, Bumgarner allowed three runs on four hits and two walks in 7.0 innings as the San Francisco Giants lost to the San Diego Padres 5-3 on Saturday. Bumgarner struck out five, ending the game with a 3.18 ERA and 1.03 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Bumgarner did give up a two-run homer but was otherwise sharp in the 102-pitch outing, his first for the Giants since injuring his left shoulder and ribs in an infamous dirt bike accident. The 2014 World Series MVP gets another meeting with the Padres on Thursday, this time at AT&T Park.
Apr. 20 10:14 AM PT11:14 AM MT12:14 PM CT1:14 PM ET13:14 ET17:14 GMT1:14 10:14 AM MST12:14 PM EST12:44 PM VEN21:14 UAE12:14 PM CT-Despite allowing just one run over six innings, Bumgarner fell to 0-3 after receiving no offensive support in Wednesday's loss at Kansas City. The San Francisco ace scattered seven hits and a walk while striking out four.
Analysis: Perhaps Bruce Bochy should have let Bumgarner DH in the American League park. A lack of offense has been a recurring theme during the left-hander's current three-start losing streak, during which he's posted a solid 2.70 ERA and the Giants have totaled a mere two runs.
Apr. 14 9:33 AM PT10:33 AM MT11:33 AM CT12:33 PM ET12:33 ET16:33 GMT0:33 9:33 AM MST11:33 AM EST12:03 PM VEN20:33 UAE11:33 AM CT-Bumgarner allowed three runs and six hits in six innings of Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Rockies, falling to 0-2.
Analysis: It is the worst start to a season for Bumgarner, a four-time All-Star, since he went 0-6 in his first eight starts in 2011.
Apr. 9 9:12 AM PT10:12 AM MT11:12 AM CT12:12 PM ET12:12 ET16:12 GMT0:12 9:12 AM MST11:12 AM EST11:42 AM VEN20:12 UAE11:12 AM CT-Bumgarner threw a complete game Saturday in San Diego but was dealt a 2-1 loss. The San Francisco ace allowed six hits and two walks while recording five strikeouts.
Analysis: Bumgarner also went 0 for 3 at the plate after homering twice on opening day. Though he's still looking for his first win, the durable lefty has began the season with two straight quality starts and has yet to pitch at AT&T Park, where he compiled a 9-4 record with a sparkling 2.14 ERA in 2016.
Apr. 2 4:56 PM PT5:56 PM MT6:56 PM CT7:56 PM ET19:56 ET23:56 GMT7:56 4:56 PM MST6:56 PM EST7:26 PM VEN3:56 UAE (+1)6:56 PM CT-Bumgarner allowed three runs and six hits while striking out 11 over seven innings Sunday against Arizona in his season debut. That paled in comparison to his performance at the plate, as he hit a pair of solo homers for his first career multi-homer game.
Analysis: Bumgarner has 16 career homers, three in 2016 and five the year before. He joined Barry Bonds (2002), Matt Williams (1994) and Willie Mays (1964) as the only Giants to homer twice on Opening Day in the past 50 years. He became the first Giants pitcher to go deep twice in one game since Jim Gott in 1985.
