Barrios scored in the 24th minute, but Dortmund struggled before Nuri Sahin and Mohamed Zidan added later goals for the team. Hertha Berlin needed extra time to win 3-1 over fourth-division side Preussen Meunster. Valeri Domovchiyski and Raffael secured the victory with goals in the last two minutes of extra time. Other Bundesliga teams in action Saturday easily advanced over opposition from lower divisions, including Stuttgart, which beat Sonnenhof Grossaspach 4-1 after Jan Simak scored two goals. Lukas Podolski scored in Cologne's 3-0 win over Kickers Emden after having returned to his home club from Bayern Munich. Felix Magath's first official game in charge of Schalke ended in a 4-0 win over fifth-division team Germania Windeck. Magath led Wolfsburg to the Bundesliga title last season before switching to Schalke. Borussia Moenchengladbach, Freiburg and Nuremberg also advanced. Updated August 1, 2009 |
