Analysis: The Washington pass rusher was injured in practice Wednesday. He was signed July 31, four days after being released by New Orleans because of off-the-field problems. Galette had 31 1/2 sacks in five seasons with the Saints and a combined 22 in the past two.

Galette was signed by Washington on July 31, less than a week after he was cut by the New Orleans Saints.
Analysis: Galette was arrested in January in Louisiana after an alleged domestic dispute with a woman. Charges were dropped, but the episode remains under review by the league. The NFL also is reviewing a video that shows a man resembling Galette in a fight on a beach. Attorney Ralph Whalen says in a statement the woman's civil suit was "frivolous" and the criminal case "meritless."

Analysis: Galette's agent, Alvin Keels, told The Associated Press on Friday that Galette, whose 10 sacks led the Saints last season, would be released Monday if he passed a physical over the weekend. The Saints apparently were concerned about NFL reviews of Galette's actions off the field, including a domestic violence arrest for which charges were dropped and a video of a beach melee that appeared to involve the player.

Prosecutors have dropped the case against Galette and his female accuser's attorney has withdrawn from a related civil lawsuit, leaving the Saints' 2014 sack leader optimistic his meeting with the league will go well.
Analysis: Under the NFL's personal conduct policy, a player arrested for domestic violence could receive a six-game suspension for a first offense. Galette says he'd like to apologize to fans who were unhappy with his off-the-field conduct and that he owes it to the Saints to respond well to adversity. Galette is rehabilitating a pectoral injury and says he hopes to be ready by the preseason.
